FINDING FAITH & SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

FINDING FAITH & SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

When you are searching for God, truth and a new direction

There are moments in life when questions arise that go deeper than everyday concerns. Who is God? What is the purpose of my life? What can I truly believe? Is the Bible still relevant today? And how can I find a faith that is more than tradition — a faith that can genuinely shape and sustain my life?

Perhaps you grew up with a particular faith and have begun to question some of the things you once accepted without thinking about them. Perhaps you have never belonged to a religion and are only now beginning to search for God. Maybe you are looking for a church in Vienna, a free church, a Bible study group, a spiritual community, or simply people with whom you can speak openly about God and faith.

At Beit Or Ha'Chaim in Vienna, we want to create space for exactly these kinds of questions.

Not through pressure and not through ready-made answers, but through honest conversation, reading Scripture together and sincerely exploring what the Bible actually teaches.

FINDING GOD – WHERE DOES FAITH BEGIN?

For many people, the search for God does not begin inside a synagogue or church. It begins in the middle of life.

A crisis, a loss, an unexpected encounter, an unanswered question or simply the feeling that something essential is missing can suddenly awaken a deeper search.

The Bible does not begin with a religious institution. It begins with God — the Creator, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of Israel.

The Torah, the Prophets and the Psalms tell the stories of people who sought God, wrestled with Him, trusted Him and at times even struggled with doubt.

Biblical faith is not presented simply as blind agreement. It is a relationship, an act of trust and a journey in which a person is allowed to learn and grow.

You do not need to understand or believe everything before speaking with us.

Questions are welcome.

Doubts may be spoken openly.

A sincere search for God is not a weakness. It can be the beginning of a new path.

YESHUA AND THE JEWISH ROOTS OF FAITH

Many people know Jesus primarily through Christian or church tradition.

What is sometimes less familiar is that Yeshua — Jesus — was Jewish, lived among the Jewish people, knew the Torah, observed the biblical appointed times and taught within the world of Israel.

At Beit Or Ha'Chaim, we therefore intentionally explore the Jewish roots of faith in Yeshua.

We believe in the one God of Israel and in Yeshua as the promised Messiah. We do not regard the Torah, the Prophets, the Psalms and the writings of the New Covenant as disconnected worlds, but as parts of the greater biblical story of God's relationship with Israel and the nations.

For people who are rediscovering faith, this perspective can open important questions in a new way:

What did Yeshua actually teach?

What role does the Torah play?

Why does Israel matter in the biblical story?

And how did the first Jewish followers of the Messiah understand their faith?

These are questions we believe deserve serious and thoughtful exploration.

LOOKING FOR A FREE CHURCH OR CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY IN VIENNA?

Perhaps your search began with phrases such as free church Vienna, Christian church Vienna, Bible study Vienna, Christian community Vienna or simply “find a church in Vienna.”

Beit Or Ha'Chaim is not a conventional evangelical free church. We are a Messianic Jewish community in Vienna.

Nevertheless, many people encounter us because they were originally searching for a Bible-centred community, a place to explore faith or a spiritual home where they could deepen their relationship with God.

At the centre of our community are Scripture, prayer, fellowship, Shabbat, the biblical feasts, Torah and faith in Yeshua.

If you are looking for a community in Vienna and are open to discovering the Bible and faith from within its Jewish and biblical roots, Beit Or Ha'Chaim offers a different perspective to explore.

WHEN YOU BEGIN QUESTIONING YOUR PREVIOUS FAITH JOURNEY

People come from very different backgrounds.

Some grew up Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox or evangelical. Others come from Muslim, Jewish or entirely non-religious backgrounds.

At some point, a deeply personal question may arise:

Do I actually believe this myself — or do I believe it simply because it is what I was taught?

Questions like these deserve time and respect.

Anyone considering a change of religion, a new spiritual path or a deeper exploration of the Bible should not be pressured.

Faith concerns a person's conscience and their relationship with God.

For this reason, our aim is not simply to “convince” people. We want to speak openly, read Scripture together and take questions seriously.

Anyone who wants to understand Messianic Jewish faith can learn more about Hashem, Torah, Israel, Yeshua, Shabbat and the biblical feasts.

THE MEANING OF LIFE, DOUBT & SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

The question of the meaning of life is not merely philosophical.

It touches real experiences: relationships, work, family, success, disappointment, loneliness and the question of what ultimately remains when everything temporary is stripped away.

The Bible takes this search seriously.

The book of Kohelet — Ecclesiastes openly asks what lasting value there is in many of the things people spend their lives pursuing.

Again and again, Scripture brings the human search back to the relationship between humanity and God.

For us, spiritual direction therefore does not mean that every question must be answered immediately.

It means taking time to examine what Scripture says and developing a faith that grows not merely from habit or inherited tradition, but from personal conviction.

That may be exactly how you found this page.

At Beit Or Ha'Chaim, we encourage people not to stop at religious labels, but to open the Scriptures for themselves and explore who Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah, truly is.
